THIS IS A PRINTED PATTERN.

Aros Sweater is worked from the top down. First the yoke is worked back and forth on circular needles, while the neckline is being shaped, then the work is joined to be worked in the round. The yoke is constructed with shoulder increases on both right side and wrong side rows on the first section. On the next section increases are worked on the sleeves only, and on the final section classic raglan increases are worked on both body and sleeves. The rib neck edge is worked at the end from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the neck edge. The neck edge is folded and sewn over. The sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles or on long circular needles using the Magic Loop technique.

Aros Sweater has stripes in 5 different colors. The sweater can also be worked in one color or in stripes in fewer colors.

Start by knitting, washing and blocking a swatch to determine which needle size gives you the correct gauge. If you want to knit an Aros Dress instead of an Aros Sweater, extend the body of the sweater simply to dress length.

Size guide: Aros Sweater is designed to have approx. 6 cm [2¼ inches] of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be 6 cm [2¼ inches] larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ inches]. The measurements for the finished garment are on the front page of the pattern (note that these measurements are only achieved if the design is knitted in the correct gauge). Before beginning your project, measure yourself with a measuring tape around your bust or your widest upper body part to determine which size will fit you the best. For example, if you measure 90 cm [35½ inches] around your bust (or around the widest part on your upper body) you should knit a size S. A size S sweater has a bust circumference of 95 cm [37½ inches] which in the given example would give you 5 cm [2 inches] of positive ease.

If you extend the sweater to dress length, the ease around the hips should be 0 cm [0 inches] or more.

Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL

Bust circumference: 90 (95) 99 (105) 116 (126) 135 cm [35½ (37½) 39 (41¼) 45¾ (49½) 53¼ inches]

Length (sweater): 54 (55) 57 (59) 60 (62) 63 cm [21¼ (21¾) 22½ (23¼) 23¾ (24½) 24¾ inches] (measured mid back excluding neck edge)

Gauge: 21 sts x 28 rows in stockinette stitch on 4 mm [US6] needles = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 Inches] after blocking

Needles: Circular needles: 3 mm [US2½] / 40 cm [16 inches] and 4 mm [US6] / 60 and 80 and/or 100 cm [24 and 32 and/or 40 inches]; Double-pointed needles: 4 mm [US6]

Materials. *Can also be knitted with other Lace and Light Fingering weight yarns.
200-250 (250) 250 (250) 250-300 (300) 300 g Sunday by Sandnes Garn (50 g = 235 m [257 yds]) held together with 125 (125) 125 (125-150) 150 (150) 150 g Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes Garn (25 g = 212 m [232 yds]) or Silk Mohair by Isager Yarn (25 g = 212 m [232 yds]).

If you want to lengthen the sweater to make it a dress, you can expect 50 g Sunday to yield approx. 21 (20) 19 (18) 16 (15) 14 cm [8¼ (8) 7½ (7) 6¼ (5) 51 inches] and 25 g of silk mohair yarn to yield approx. 20 (19) 18 (17) 16 (15) 14 cm [8 (7½) 7 (6¾) 6¼ (6) 5½ inches] on the body/skirt.

My suggested Substitute Yarns:

Instead of Tynn Silk Mohair by Sandnes Garn you can also use 125 (125) 125 (125-150) 150 (150) 150 g of  IAM Hand-dyed baby Suri Alpaca/silk  or (25g = 210 m) or CaMaRose Midnatssol   (25g = 200m).

Instead of Sunday by Sandnes Garn you can use 200-250 (250) 250 (250) 250-300 (300) 300 g Hjertegarn Organic TRIO

If your pattern calls for yarn you don't have, but you want to use a yarn you DO have, there are some general (and loose) guidelines.
BUT, I still recommend making a swatch before beginning a project with any yarn.

When holding together:
2 lace weight yarns = 1 fingering/sport
2 fingering weight yarns = 1 sport/DK
2 sport weight yarns = 1 light worsted
2 DK weight yarns = 1 worsted/heavy worsted
2 worsted weight yarns= 1 chunky/bulky
2 chunky weight yarns = 1 super bulky

Yarnsub.com is also a great guide for yarn substitution.
