The Chantal top is worked top-down in a slip stitch pattern. It begins with the left and right backs, which are worked separately. Stitches are then cast on for the neck at the back, and these sections are joined to continue working the back flat. Next, stitches are picked up to knit the right and left fronts separately. After this, stitches are cast on for the front neck, and these are joined to work the front flat.

Once these parts are completed, stitches are cast on for the underarms, and the knitting is joined in the round to work the body. Next, stitches are divided in half, and the front and back are worked separately to shape the side slits. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline and armholes to knit a 2x2 rib in the round, which is then folded inward and attached from the wrong side.

The Chantal Top has a regular fit and is designed to have approx. 5 cm 2 in of positive ease. This means the garment’s measurements will be approx. 5 cm 2 in larger than your actual bust circumference. The sizes XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 / 85-90 / 90-95 / 95-100 / 100-110 / 110-120 / 120-130 cm 31½-33½ / 33½-35½ / 35½-37½ / 37½-39½ / 39½-43¼ / 43¼-47¼ / 47¼-51 ¼ in.
Before you begin, measure yourself to determine the right size. For example, if your bust circumference is 92 cm 36½ in, you should knit a size M. If you are between sizes, choose the size based on how loose you prefer the top to fit. Notions: Stitch markers, extra yarn or stitch holders, thin and smooth contrast color yarn approx. 10 m 11 yds, tapestry needle.

Gauge: After washing and blocking:
30 sts x 44 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 in in slip stitch on 4 mm US 6 needles.
30 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10cm 4 x 4 in in 2x2 rib on 2.5 mm US 1½ needles.
Please make sure to knit a swatch. Ensure that your swatch gauge matches the given one.
