IAM Shetland is a traditional Shetland-style pure new wool from New Zealand. It is fingering weight, non-superwash and non-mulesing yarn available in 30 solid and heathered colors (not all colors are added in swatch image above). This yarn is VERY similar to Holst Supersoft (from the same yarn mill in New Zealand) but it is a tiny-bit heavier: Nm8.4/2 (IAM Shetland is 220m ..... Supersoft is 287 m per 50 g skein).

Approx. 240 yards/220 meters per 50 gram ball. IAM Shetland is a 2-ply yarn.

Weight: Fingering

Knit with one thread at needles 3-3.5 mm/US 2.5-4
(Approx. 25 stitches = 10 cm/4 inches).
Knit with two threads at needles 4-4.5mm/US 6-7
(Approx. 16 stitches = 10 cm/4 inches).

IAM Shetland is perfect for knitting, crocheting, weaving and any other projects you can imagine.

This yarn has the authentic and rustic feel of Shetland wool and even though they have some Shetland sheep in parts of New Zealand, they have been mixed over generations so the wool is not 100% identical to Shetland from the UK. But it is extremely similar. After this yarn has been washed the yarn gets a lot more softer as with the Holst Supersoft - and it keeps the lovely rustic look and feel. Combining IAM Shetland with other yarns can create interested and beautiful textures. I have combined with IAM baby Suri alpaca/silk and/or IAM Hygge Mohair/Silk for hats and gloves.

I will add 20 more colors in 2-3 months.

IAM Shetland wool can be used for shawls, sweaters, cardigans, jackets, ponchos, and blankets, pillows. I have pets and I love making small blankets for my couch, floor, bed and they love those wooly blankets.

Note: IAM Shetland contains a bit of spinning oil and excess dye. The oil and excess dye will disappear at the first wash - and the yarn will blossom and become extremely soft.

You can use a washing machine - on a cold delicate wool program. I tend to hand-wash anything wool.

Approx. 287 meters/314 yards per 50 gram.
