MIMI SWEATER is a relaxed, oversized pullover featuring bold color block sections. These broad blocks are tastefully divided by subtle dotted lines, which continue gracefully along the shoulders, neckline, and armhole shaping. This sweater is constructed seamlessly from the top down.

The dotted detail is created using a simple slipped stitch technique, giving the illusion of stranded colorwork—yet only one yarn color is used at a time.

All Photographs are courtesy of Anne Ventzel.

This sweater is constructed seamlessly from the top down. You’ll begin by casting on stitches for the shoulders and shaping them by working flat to the underarm. The front and back are then joined and knit in the round to form the body. Sleeves are picked up around the armholes and shaped with short rows before finishing with twisted rib cuffs. Short rows are also used on the front, back, and sleeves to enhance the overall fit.

The amount of positive ease you prefer in your clothing is a personal choice. One helpful way to find your ideal size is to measure a few sweaters you already love wearing. Sleeve length can be affected by both your height and the amount of positive ease you select. As a general guideline, the more roomy the fit, the shorter the sleeves should be. This principle also applies to the sweaters featured in the pattern photos.

The positive ease and sleeve length of my versions of the MIMI SWEATER are as follows:
Version 1: 44 cm positive ease and sleeve length 3.
Version 2: 33 cm positive ease and sleeve length 3.
Version 3: 55 cm positive ease and sleeve length 1.

Needles
Circular needles
4 mm (40 and 80/120 cm)
5 mm (40 and 80/120 cm)

Gauge
18 sts × 24 rows in stockinette stitch on a 5 mm needle = 10 × 10 cm

The yarns which I used for the MIMI SWEATER tend to stretch after washing.
The gauge before washing was 19 stitches and after washing the stated 18 stitches.
