Open cardigans like Andromeda are a breeze - to knit and wear. Swingy, button-less fronts, back dart shaping, and simple garter and stockinette stitches in lightweight fingering weight yarn provide all the pleasing details in this pretty design by Pam Allen.

If your pattern calls for yarn you don't have, but you want to use a yarn you DO have, there are some general (and loose) guidelines.
BUT, I still recommend making a swatch before beginning a project with any yarn.

When holding together:

2 lace weight yarns = 1 fingering/sport
2 fingering weight yarns = 1 sport/DK
2 sport weight yarns = 1 light worsted
2 DK weight yarns = 1 worsted/heavy worsted
2 worsted weight yarns= 1 chunky/bulky
2 chunky weight yarns = 1 super bulky
