Sil Silk and Merino DK — a beautiful balance of softness and drape

This soft DK-weight yarn blends 50% silk with 50% merino wool, creating a single-ply strand that’s a dream to knit and feels luxurious against the skin. The mix of fibers gives it a smooth, gentle touch — perfect for anyone sensitive to wool. It’s an ideal choice for cozy garments, elegant scarves, and anything meant to be worn close to the body.

The silk adds a touch of sheen and extra drape, giving your finished pieces a soft flow and beautiful glow. Because silk and wool absorb color differently, each skein shows off stunning depth and dimension across the range of semi-solids, tonal shades, and watercolor-inspired blends.

Perfect for: shawls, sweaters, accessories, cables, colorwork, lace, and textured stitches.

To keep your project looking beautifully consistent, be sure to purchase enough yarn from the same dye lot. Like all hand-dyed yarns, color may vary slightly from skein to skein — even within the same batch. For the best blend of tones, alternate between two skeins every few rows.

Each batch is dyed by hand using the same recipe, but variations are part of what make hand-dyed yarns so special. Differences in tone can range from subtle shifts to more noticeable changes, especially in variegated colorways. After dyeing and quality checks, skeins are labeled and packed in small batches, so some variation between bags is normal.

Please note that photos are meant as a color guide — actual shades may differ slightly due to the unique, artisanal dyeing process.

NON SUPERWASH: Hand Washing Essentials
Washing your non-superwash Malabrigo creations is a breeze! Follow these simple steps:

1. Fill the sink with cold water and add your chosen wool wash/soap.

2. Immerse the garment, gently pressing it down.

3. Allow it to soak for at least 20 minutes until the wool absorbs water.

4. Drain the sink and carefully lift the item onto an open towel.

5. Spread out the garment, roll it in the towel, and squish out excess water.

6. Optionally, repeat the process with a fresh towel.

7. Lay the garment flat on your preferred drying surface, using fans to speed up drying.

Will the size change after blocking? While most people experience growth, swatching and blocking help set expectations.

Remember if washed in washing machine, the garment will felt.

Swatch and Block: Similar to non-superwash, anticipate growth with Malabrigo. Swatching and blocking guide size expectations.

Bleeding Yarn?
Detect bleeding issues before crafting:

Test a yarn strand by soaking it with wool wash. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Pull it out and lay it on a piece of white paper towel, tissue, toilet paper, etc. You may not see color in the water, but it might show up on the white paper.

If color appears, soak the yarn in lukewarm water with a glug (1/4-1/3 cup) of plain white vinegar. Follow up with rinse baths until the water runs clear.

Already Knit Up? Address bleeding cautiously, especially in two-color projects. Try color-catcher sheets, but be prepared for potential changes.

Remember, catching bleeding problems early is key, ensuring a smooth journey for your Malabrigo creations!

Alternating Skeins?
In the round: Alternate every round for seamless transitions.

Flat, every 2 rows: Slip the first stitch purlwise and knit the next with the carried-up yarn.
