Majbritt's Beret is designed by Trine Bertelsen of CaMaRose.
MAJBRITT'S BERET is a hat for women, knitted in a classic smock pattern. The hat can be worked in 2 strands of MIDNATSSOL or 1 strand of LAMAULD, but can also be worked in 1 strand of LAMATWEED.
Size: S-M (L-XL), fits a head circumference at 54-56 (58-60) cm.
Yarn: 2 strands of MIDNATSSOL (54% baby alpaca, 10% merino wool and 36% tencel) or LAMAULD (50% llama and 50% wool).
Yarn alternative: LAMATWEED (40% llama, 40% wool and 20% viscose)
Yarn requirement: 2 skeins of Midnatssol or Lamauld, and a scrap of yarn (if you want a contrast colour for the cast on edge).
The model in the red Beret is worked in MIDNATSSOL
The model in the light brown Beret is worked in Lamawool.
Suggested needle size using 2 strands of Midnatssol:
4 mm circular needle (40 cm), 4.5 mm circular needle (40 and 60 cm), and 4.5 mm double pointed needles.
Suggested needle size using 1 strand of Lamauld:
4.5 mm circular needle (40 cm), 5 mm circular needle (40 and 60 cm), and 5 mm double pointed needles.
Gauge:
21 sts x 24 rnds in rib on a 4 mm needle (Midnatssol)
and 4.5 mm needle (Lamauld).
24 sts x 24 rnds = 10 x 10 cm in smock pattern on a 4.5 mm needle (Midnatssol)
and 5 mm needle (Lamauld).
