THIS IS A PRINTED PATTERN. The April Cardigan features a V-neckline and is knit top-down. The yoke begins with shoulder increases on both RS and WS rows, followed by sleeve increases, and finishes with classic raglan shaping. Simultaneously, increases are worked along the front edges to shape the V-neckline. Sleeves are knit in the round using double-pointed needles or the Magic Loop method. Finally, stitches are picked up along the fronts, shoulders, and neck to create a ribbed front edge with buttonholes. Begin with a swatch to determine the correct needle size for gauge.

Size guide
The April Cardigan is designed with approx. 6-8 cm [2¼-3¼ inches] of positive ease, meaning it’s 6-8 cm [2¼-3¼ inches] larger than your bust measurement. Sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL fit busts of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 inches]. Finished garment measurements are on the front page and assume correct gauge. Measure around your bust or widest upper body area to determine size. For example, if your bust is 90 cm [35½ inches], knit size S for a finished circumference of 97 cm [38¼ inches] and 7 cm [2¾ inches] of positive ease.

If your pattern calls for yarn you don't have, but you want to use a yarn you DO have, there are some general (and loose) guidelines.
I still recommend making a swatch before beginning a project with any yarn.

When holding together:

2 lace weight yarns = 1 fingering/sport
2 fingering weight yarns = 1 sport/DK
2 sport weight yarns = 1 light worsted
2 DK weight yarns = 1 worsted/heavy worsted
2 worsted weight yarns= 1 chunky/bulky
2 chunky weight yarns = 1 super bulky

Yarnsub.com is also a great guide for yarn substitutions.
