SUPER SELENE is a relaxed, generously cut sweater highlighted by an eye‑catching patterned yoke. The design is worked seamlessly from the top down, beginning at the neckline.

All Photographs are courtesy of Anne Ventzel.

Stitches are cast on using the Italian cast‑on, after which the neck is finished with twisted ribbing. The yoke is then knitted in stranded colorwork. Prior to separating the sleeves from the body, short rows are added across the back to create extra depth and a comfortable, well‑balanced fit.

For a simpler approach, the Italian cast‑on may be replaced with a standard long‑tail cast‑on, provided it is worked loosely enough. Likewise, a conventional bind‑off may be used instead of the Italian bind‑off if preferred.

Sizes:1 (2) 3 (4) 5
Finished bust measurement: 112 (120) 130 (138) 148 cm
Body length – long version: 66 (67) 68 (69) 70 cm
Body length – short version: 48 (49) 50 (51) 52 cm

Sleeve circumference: 43 (43) 44 (44) 46 cm

Preferences for positive ease vary from knitter to knitter. Measuring a favorite sweater can help determine the most suitable size.
The sample shown is worn with approximately 29 cm of positive ease.

Needles
Circular needles
: 5 mm and 5.5 mm in lengths of 40, 60, 80, and 100/120 cm
Optional: 5 mm straight needle for working the Italian cast‑on

Note: The colorwork sections are knitted using needles 0.5 mm larger than those used for single‑color stockinette. This adjustment helps maintain consistent gauge between stranded and plain knitting. Since tension can vary when working with multiple colors, knitting a gauge swatch is strongly recommended before starting.

Gauge
18 stitches × 27 rows in single‑color stockinette on 5 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm
18 stitches × 22 rows in stranded pattern on 5.5 mm needles = 10 × 10 cm
